Finding a good vacation spot down south of the Philippines shouldn’t be such a chore. For starters, the Davao region is growing an extensive number of eco-tourism spots, beaches and shopping malls. If you are the kind of traveler who enjoys the tropics and some fine beach resorts, then you probably wouldn’t mind taking a ride away from urban Davao City and find peace in Davao del Norte. There, you will find home to a resort that further accentuates the cliché of having paradise on Earth.
Hijo Estate Resorts, a 760-hectare tourist landmark that opened just last May, takes you to a tropical vacation that you’ve always wanted. This resort, located along the Davao Gulf in Madaum, Davao del Norte, has its own beach, forest, twin rivers, and private fishing spots! Accommodations range from casual economy open-air huts along the beach, to private and exclusive rooms in a heritage house.
Spots of Indulgence:
Banana Beach – This is probably the world’s only beach inside a banana plantation. Here, you can have horseback rides by the shore, or a feast on appetizing Filipino and Asian dishes with the serene view of the ocean.
Lanikai Heritage House – Lanikai has everything for anyone who enjoys seaside luxury with a local punch: authentic cuisines of the Kalagan, Manobo, and Banobo tribes of Davao by the side of an infinity pool? Why not!
Hijo Tours – Put on a hat for adventure! Here you can cruise by the Madaum River, take a leisurely walk in hanging bridges on towering forest trees, pick a variety of fruits in season, or ride through the night and experience Philippine safari (view wild boards and monkeys in their natural habitat).
Banana plantation tours can also be arranged; Hijo Estate Resorts was previously known as a historic banana plantation that exported Cavendish bananas to Japan. Tours show the public how bananas are propagated, raised, harvested and packed for world export.
Certainly, to find a good vacation in the south should be a breeze. Have you packed your bags yet?
