KAREN STATE, Myanmar – According to the National Unity Government (NUG), 40 Myanmar military soldiers were killed by a coalition of anti-junta forces during a day of intense fighting in the Karen State town of Lay Kay Kaw on Sunday.

Around 2 a.m., fighting erupted between 300 junta troops and the Karen National Union’s (KNU) armed wing, fighting alongside the Cobra Column, a local resistance group.
