BANGKOK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — Thailand’s consumer inflation growth quickened in August, hitting a new 14-year high, fueled by surging energy and food prices, data showed on Monday.

The country’s consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 7.86 percent year on year last month, the highest level since July 2008, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
