14 May 2015 From the section Asia The discrimination against Rohingyas goes back to Burma’s independence from Britain The plight of several thousand Myanmar migrants who are believed to be stranded off the coasts of Thailand and Malaysia with dwindling supplies of food and water has caused international concern. Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have been turning away migrant boats mostly carrying members of the minority Muslim Rohingya community.
