HANOI, June 3 (Xinhua) — Vietnam spent over 6.5 billion U.S. dollars on cloth imports in the first five months of this year, posting a rise of 10.9 percent year on year, according to the General Statistics Office on Friday.

Between January and May, Vietnam imported some 586,000 tons of cotton worth more than 1.5 billion dollars, down 20.3 percent in volume and up 19.1 percent in value year on year.
