COLOMBO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — Sri Lanka’s cabinet has decided to compensate 53,965 farmers whose crops were damaged due to dry weather conditions in the 2023 Yala harvest season, a minister said on Tuesday.

Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera told media that the cabinet agreed to provide compensation using funds from crop insurance scheme.
