SINGAPORE, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) — Singapore reported 344 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total tally of the disease in the country to 279,405.

Of the new cases, 165 were in the community, seven were in migrant worker dormitories and 172 were imported cases, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Among the new cases, 158 were confirmed to have contracted the Omicron var
