ISLAMABAD, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) — Pakistan’s current account deficit shrank by 78 percent in December 2022 from a year earlier as the government contained imports to avoid an external payments crisis, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Pakistan’s current account deficit fell to 0.4 billion U.S. dollars in December 2022 from 1.9 billion U.S. dollars in the same month of the previous year, recording a 78.
