ISLAMABAD, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — Pakistani President Arif Alvi on Thursday appointed Lieutenant General Asim Munir as the country’s new chief of army staff, the media wing of the President’s Secretariat said in a statement.

According to the statement, the president promoted Munir to the rank of General with immediate effect, who will assume office as the new army chief from Nov. 29, 2022.
