ISLAMABAD, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — Pakistan recorded 526 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths from the pandemic on Tuesday, its ministry of health said on Wednesday.

The overall tally of the infected people increased to 1,564,231 in the South Asian country, according to data released by the ministry.

Data showed 30,542 people have so far died due to COVID-19 in Pakistan with the five newly reported ones.
