KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported 3,381 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Friday, bringing the national total to 2,780,080, according to the health ministry.

Some 319 of the new cases are imported, with 3,062 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.

Another 16 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 31,644.
