KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported 2,561 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 4,875,131, according to the health ministry.

There are eight new imported cases, with 2,553 cases being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.

Eight new deaths have been reported, pushing the death toll to 36,437.
