KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported another 20,988 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Thursday, bringing the national total to 1,786,004.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that one of the new cases is imported and 20,987 are local transmissions.

Another 249 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 17,191.
