KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported another 20,897 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Tuesday, bringing the national total to 1,746,254.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that one of the new cases is imported and 20,896 are local transmissions.

Another 282 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 16,664.
