BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — Global manufacturing activity increased for the third consecutive month in September but remained in contraction territory, according to an index published by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

The global manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) stood at 48.7 in September, up from 48.3 in the previous month, according to the federation.
