KATHMANDU, Nepal – On Wednesday, the Kathmandu District Court sentenced cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to eight years in prison for rape.

The jail term was pronounced by a single bench led by Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal. According to Chandra Prasad Panthi, the court’s information officer, the bench imposed a Rs300,000 fine and ordered the cricketer to pay Rs200,000 to compensate the victim.
