Dhaka to spend over Tk30,000 crore as fertilizer subsidies

DHAKA, Bangladesh – International trade sanctions have begun to affect Bangladesh’s imports of crucial farm nutrients as chemical fertilizer prices have risen.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said at a city event on Monday that the government received a price quotation for potash at $1200 per tonne four times higher than last year’s price of $300 in response to an import tender on Monday.
