DHAKA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Bangladesh reported 5,993 new COVID-19 cases and 145 more deaths on Friday, pushing the case tally at 1,453,203 and the death toll at 25,023, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 34,892 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Friday across Bangladesh.
