DHAKA, Bangladesh – Seventy-three-year-old Shahjahan Bhuiyan, who served as an executioner, was released from Dhaka Central Jail on Sunday after spending over three decades behind bars.

The confirmation of his release came from Subhas Kumar Ghosh, the senior jail superintendent of the central prison, who stated that Shahjahan regained his freedom at around 1 pm Sunday.

Shahjahan was born on March 26, 1950,
