KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported another 16,840 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 1,095,486, the health ministry said Friday.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 17 of the new cases are imported and 16,823 are local transmissions.

Another 134 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 8,859.
