YANGON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) — Myanmar’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has designated a new protected mangrove forest area in the southern state of Mon, the state-run daily The Mirror reported on Thursday.

The ministry designated 9,284 acres of land in the region’s Thaton township as a protected mangrove forest area, effective from Jan. 2, 2025, the report said.
