NAY PYI TAW, Myanmar: This week, a court in Myanmar, currently under military rule, sentenced photojournalist Sai Zaw Thaike to a 20-year prison term, marking the longest known sentence imposed on a media professional since the military coup in 2021.

Sai Zaw Thaike was detained in late May in Rakhine state while covering the aftermath of Cyclone Mocha.
