KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) — Malaysia reported 1,138 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Friday, bringing the national total to 5,016,023, according to the health ministry.

There are two new imported cases and 1,136 cases of local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.

Another eight deaths have been reported, pushing the death toll to 36,795.
