VIENTIANE, March 3 (Xinhua) — Lao athletes from 29 teams are gearing up for the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam between May 12 and 23.

Over 160 Lao athletes will compete in a majority of the 40 sports at the Games.

With its athletes starting training domestically two months before the Games, Laos has set the goal of bringing back five gold medals.

In 2019, Lao athletes competed in 24 sports
