SAGAING, Myanmar – According to a statement made on Monday by a Sagaing-based chapter of the Chinland Defence Force (CDF), an army captain who defected from the military a couple of weeks ago is presently in a safe place with his family.

According to the statement, Captain Kaung Thu Win surrendered to the CDF on December 23 because he “no longer wanted to serve” Myanmar’s military junta.
