MANILA, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) — The Philippines reported a record daily COVID-19 cases for the second straight day, with 28,707 new confirmed cases on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 2,965,447.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the COVID-19 positivity rate rose to a record 44 percent. Fifteen more people died from COVID-19 complications in the Southeast Asian country, bringing the overall coronavirus death toll
