HANOI, May 23 (Xinhua) — Vietnam recorded 1,179 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, down by 140 from Sunday, according to its Ministry of Health.

All the new infections were domestically transmitted in 43 provinces and cities.

The Vietnamese capital Hanoi was the pandemic hotspot with 332 new cases recorded on Monday, followed by the northern Vinh Phuc province with 75 and the central Quang Tri province with 7
