TOKYO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) — Tokyo stocks closed largely higher on Tuesday, with the Nikkei index advancing 2 percent, as investors bought on dips after stocks fell sharply over the past two trading days, while gains in blue chips boosted the market further.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average finished up 579.78 points, or 2.08 percent, from Monday at 28,517.59.
