One Tourist One Tree! One tourist, one tree aims to creation of a pristine environment and green tourism. The greenery is no longer an option, but a necessity to safeguard the beauty and majesty of our planet that we are enjoying today. Green hotels and resorts play a big part in this whole thing as they make your trip not just grand and memorable, but give you a high by ensuring that you don’t hurt the planet with your trip as all of us are concerned of global warming. As recently initiated by the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia “One tourist, one tree”, the Memoria Palace & Resort at Pailin province supports and joins this policy of the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism by offering tourists native trees free of charge to be planted at Resort’s compound on 13 hectare of land to diminish the carbon dioxide. Memoria Palace & Resort is nestled on a cozy northern edge hilltop of the Cardamom Mountains in northwestern Cambodia. Our resort is a beautiful boutique eco-resort offering simple, yet stylish accommodations, memorable experiences and personal rejuvenation made for nature lovers. Our Resort is dedicated to the creation of a pristine environment and responsible tourism. The trees planting will be starting from 8 August to 31 November 2013 to achieve 1000 trees planting. Every three months we will take photos of your tree to update you by email respectively regarding the growth of your tree that you planted. Hello, my name is Phan and I am a new writer for Latitudes from Vietnam! I am a graduate student from Vietnam National University of Social Sciences and Humanity with a major in Cultures and Literature. I love reading books and traveling around to experience different cultures and heritages. To me, to read and to travel are best ways to discover the world, to care about our people, and to adore the life that we live. On a trip to a village of Thai people, I was so surprised when I met many children who hardly have three meals per day, let alone to read a book. If I hadn’t gone, I wouldn’t have known that people’s living could be that tough; they slept on the pavement to wait for the market opening; they walked constantly more than four or five hours from their village to the market in order to sell products. The more I go, the more I grow old enough to consider we human-being’s probing questions, like how to reduce social problems, how to help improve a country’s prosperity, and how to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, especially when “The World Is Flat” as Thomas Friedman said. So that’s quite easy to understand why I chose to major in Cultures and Literature and to pursue them as my life-long career
